I am confused and think about this daily. I am here in US for the past 8+ years and I am 33 now.
I really envy all of you guys who can return to your country. I have been here 8+ years and I am 53. My country does not even give me a passport and in top of that I am stuck in the namecheck black hole.

I am still confused in regards to who whould be eligible for a visa number.
For instance (assumption:all other factors same for both A and B(name check, country etc)

So under present circumstances when everything is current, who whould get alloted a visa number first??

I have some black dots in my Control Panel? What is the meaning of a black dot?
And how does one give black dot to some one? When I try to add reputation to a post, I can only see I approve or I disapprove options. I would imagine I approve=green and I disapprove=red. Where does a black dot fit into this scheme?

If the inflation does not improve, it may continue until 2014.
Next year in india we can expect home credit crisis ( like USA). - more chances with this current economy.
The current prices in Hyd ,Blore, Chennai are artifical booms. - it will come for a correction.
But for sure, if you buy a property you CANNOTexpect that to go up by 500 or 700 % up in a year.
But real estate is always a good investment in life.
And on your question - i think SBI you can get loan from here

What is wrong with bonded to 1 job type ? You file AC21 but job type should be similar. You cannot become a company's Vice president if your labor was for Programmer, why are you picking on things ? The guy sitting next to my cubicle is here more than 7 years, he's waiting for his 140, he's stuck with my employer while he wants to move since he has a 3 years degree than a masters, He was considered a EB-3 I. Don't you think he wants to know how many decades it will take for his dates to get current ?

it does say that H1B ext beyond 6 years can not be granted if there is not underlying pending process for GC (LC, 140 or 485).
However it does not talk about 'what happens if an ext is already granted'? so it still remains gray area. did I understand correctly?

We all know that these IT companies/ "body shops" will not bear the brunt of this.
It is always the employees who will get distressed. Large organizations will quietly offshore more jobs while smaller ones will charge this from the employee, legal or not.
I pity those who think this will create more jobs for Americans. They are truly ignorant of how the system works.
And like most of you already mentioned, it's funny how a small group (few thousand) of legal immigrants are targeted while millions of illegals (and the companies that hire them) are going untouched !

If you have made a contribution and posted on this thread or on the thread we had before your name should be on the list. We do not have an automatic way of updating this list once someone had made a contribution through paypal at this time. Every night I go through this thread, update numbers and names. I could have made a manual error and missed some names but once people have brought that to my attention I have been double checking and responding back to them. I know I am behind on verifying one or two contributions but I will catch up. I work long hours,take classes and I live 80 miles away from where I work. I wish I had more than 24 hours in my day. If you could help us with maintaining an accurate list that would be awesome.

We just need 20,000 active members to make a change, which is approx 10% of the total number of GC apps pending. At the most 2000 people are active.
If somebody can being in 20,000 active members to this forum, the change will happen.
I dont think all the 20,000 members need to be active every day or every week. What is that you are expecting them to be active every day. If we are not able to pull the crowd, it is not the inability of the crowd but the leadership. Crowd whether it is Indian or other is always like that. It is the effective leadership that makes the difference. For example if you take Martin Luther King, Gandhi or for that matter any leader, it is their speeches/actions that inspired people to involve in the movement not just the people came all by themselves.

These are all good thoughts but what u are suggesting takes some time.
The issue has two legs:
Leg 1: Process fix
Leg 2: Increasing number of greencards
What I am talking about is leg 1 and what you are talking about is for leg 2
and both are required.
I am not discouraging you for taking initiative - I am for it - let this be the first step towards doing something - but looks like we lack directive and path of execution.

Hey I was in similar situation. My current H1 is expiring on Sept 30th 2007 and my extension application was filed on Aug 22nd 2007. So I was not expecting my H1 to be approved till way beyond Sept. But then I checked with Local DMV in virginia and they told me I can get a temporary 1 year extension on my DL if I can show them the receipt of my H1 extension application. I got that from my employer and my DL by extended by 1 Yr till Aug 22 2008 ( date when H1 was applied) my state is Virginia if that info helps.
I am in a similar situation. Which DMV office did you visit in VA ?

Can someone explain what "Temporary Restrain Order" would do if it were successful. It sounds to me that the lawsuit is asking the court to temporarily invalidate the July visa bulletin so that USCIS will be forced to accept the applications. Is this a reasonable understanding? Any lawyers here?

AILA (http://www.aila.org/) has an analysis of the immigration bill in an article "Top 5 Concerns Regarding Employment-Based Immigration in S. 1348":
there is a disturbing section in there:
Gaps in Green Card Availability � Immigrant visa petitions filed after May 15, 2007 on the basis of the current employment-based preference system will be rejected. � During the period between May 15, 2007 and the date the new merit based system is up and running (likely October 1, 2008), no new employment-based green card applications can be filed.
Any validity to this claim ?
If so, Does this mean that all I-485 that can be filled with the latest jump in priority date will be voided ?
Is this valid/legal ?
